If you're looking for some excellent bluegill action in Kentucky, Camargo offers a few under-the-radar spots that can produce some impressive catches. The numerous small ponds and creeks scattered throughout the area, often on private land but sometimes accessible with permission, hold surprisingly large bluegill. Spring, particularly during the spawn (late April to early June), is prime time. Look for shallow, weedy areas in these ponds where the bluegill are bedding. A simple bobber and worm rig is deadly, but don't underestimate small poppers or dry flies in the evenings. Local tip: check with the landowners about water levels, as some ponds can fluctuate dramatically depending on rainfall. Remember to be respectful of private property and always ask for permission before fishing. The bluegill here aren't heavily pressured, so even a short trip can result in a memorable stringer.
