Brown Trout

While Glendale Heights isn't exactly known for its trout streams, dedicated anglers can find opportunities for brown trout with a bit of travel. The closest option would be to head north into Wisconsin, where some of the tributaries of Lake Michigan hold brown trout. These fish are often migratory, moving into the streams during the fall and spring to spawn. Focus on rivers with good gravel beds and undercut banks, as these provide ideal spawning and hiding habitat. Check the Wisconsin DNR website for stocking information and regulations. Wading can be challenging, so consider using a wading staff for safety. Small spinners, spoons, and live bait such as worms or waxworms can be effective. Remember to practice catch and release to help maintain the population.
