Brown Trout

While Lanark, Illinois, isn't typically known as a brown trout destination, the adventurous angler can find some surprisingly good fishing in the smaller, cooler streams and tributaries of the larger rivers in the area. Access can be tricky, often requiring permission from landowners, so research public access points carefully. Be aware that water levels can fluctuate rapidly after rainfall, impacting water clarity and fish activity.
