Carp

Carp fishing in the Burlison area offers a chance to tangle with some surprisingly large fish. The slower-moving sections of the Wolf River and its backwaters are prime carp habitat. Look for areas with muddy bottoms and plenty of vegetation. Spring and early summer are excellent times to target carp, as they are actively feeding after spawning. Pre-baiting your chosen spot with corn or boilies for a few days can significantly increase your chances of success. Simple hair rigs baited with corn or dough balls are effective. Many anglers also find success with pack baits. A key tip is to use a heavy lead to hold your bait in place, as the current can be surprisingly strong in some areas. Be prepared for a good fight, as these carp can pull hard! Remember to practice catch and release, as these fish are not typically harvested in this area.
