Catfish

For catfish anglers, Rome, Georgia, presents a variety of options within the Coosa River system. The Coosa, Etowah, and Oostanaula rivers, along with Lake Weiss, are home to channel, blue, and flathead catfish. Targeting these whiskered giants involves understanding their preferred habitats and feeding habits. Look for channel cats in areas with moderate current and plenty of cover, while blue cats tend to prefer deeper water near the main river channel. Flatheads, on the other hand, are often found lurking near submerged logs and other structure. Summer is an excellent time to target catfish, especially at night.
