Channel Catfish

If you're headed to Dahlonega, Georgia, with channel catfish on your mind, you're in for a treat. The Chattahoochee River and its tributaries offer excellent opportunities. While year-round fishing is possible, the warmer months, particularly late spring and summer, are prime time. Catfish become more active as the water heats up, making them easier to target. Focus on areas with current breaks, such as bends in the river or near submerged logs. Night fishing can be especially productive during the hot summer months. For bank access, try the public areas along the Chestatee River, a Chattahoochee tributary.
