Channel Catfish

Channel catfish are a readily available target around Gary City, Texas. While Toledo Bend Reservoir gets most of the attention for bass, it also holds a healthy population of channel cats. Smaller lakes and ponds in the area can also be productive. Look for areas with submerged timber, creek channels, and rocky bottoms. Stink baits, cut bait, and nightcrawlers are all effective. The warmer months are generally best, but you can catch channel cats year-round. Fishing near boat ramps or areas where people clean fish can be productive, as the catfish are often attracted to the scent.
