Channel Catfish

Lewisville Lake, adjacent to Lakewood Village, holds a strong population of Channel Catfish, making it a reliable destination for anglers of all skill levels. These whiskered predators thrive in the lake's varied habitats, from rocky shorelines to muddy flats. The warmer months, from late spring through summer, are generally the most productive for Channel Catfish. Look for them near submerged timber, creek channels, and along the dam. A simple slip-sinker rig with nightcrawlers, stinkbait, or cut bait is often all you need. Bank fishing is readily available at many of the parks surrounding the lake. For boat anglers, anchoring near submerged structure or drifting across shallower flats can be effective. A local tip: chumming the water with soured grain can attract catfish to your fishing spot.
