Channel Catfish

Channel catfish offer a fantastic fishing opportunity around Piney Point Village, Texas, particularly in the freshwater systems that feed into the larger reservoirs nearby. While not directly on a major catfish waterway, the creeks and smaller lakes in the region hold respectable populations. The warmer months, from late spring through summer, are prime time for targeting these whiskered predators. Look for them in deeper holes, near submerged logs, or around any kind of structure that provides cover. A great local tactic is to fish with stink baits or cut bait near the bottom, especially after a rainfall when the water is slightly muddied.
