Channel Catfish

Channel catfish in the Post Oak Bend area of Texas thrive in the numerous creeks, ponds, and smaller lakes that dot the landscape. These waters offer a diverse habitat for catfish to flourish. The warmer months, from late spring through summer, are generally the most productive. Fish will be actively feeding, especially at night. Look for areas with submerged timber, creek channels, or rocky bottoms. Stinkbaits, cut bait, and nightcrawlers are all effective choices. A local tip: target the areas where creeks enter or exit the ponds and lakes. These spots often concentrate baitfish and, consequently, catfish. Access to some of these areas may be limited to private land, so be sure to obtain permission before fishing. Also, be prepared for some potentially muddy conditions, especially after rainfall.
