Channel catfish are a reliable target in the waters surrounding Taylor Lake Village, Texas. Clear Lake and its associated bayous and canals hold a healthy population of these whiskered fish. Fishing for channel cats can be productive year-round, but the warmer months, from late spring through early fall, generally offer the best action. Focus on areas with structure, such as submerged timber, docks, and rocky bottoms. Popular baits include stinkbaits, cut bait, and nightcrawlers. A local tip is to fish near areas where freshwater flows into the bayous, as catfish are attracted to these areas. Night fishing can be particularly effective during the summer months.
