Crappie fishing near Yorba Linda can be a fun and productive outing, especially if you know where to look. While not abundant in every local water body, Carbon Canyon Regional Park Lake and some of the smaller reservoirs further east can hold decent populations. Spring is the prime time for crappie, as they move into shallower water to spawn. Small jigs and minnows fished under a bobber are highly effective. Target areas around submerged brush, docks, and weed lines. Early morning and late afternoon are generally the most productive times. A local tip: Use a fish finder to locate submerged structure and schools of crappie. Also, be mindful of the daily bag limits, as they can vary depending on the specific lake.
