The local waterways, including Bundick Lake and the Calcasieu River, are renowned for their healthy crappie populations. Spring is prime time, as crappie move into shallower waters to spawn. Target submerged structure like brush piles, fallen trees, and docks with jigs or minnows under a bobber. Fall is another productive season, when crappie school up in deeper water near creek channels. A local tip: Bundick Lake is relatively shallow, so be mindful of your boat's draft, especially in late summer when water levels can be lower.
