Largemouth Bass

Just north of Birmingham, Fultondale offers several freshwater lakes and reservoirs that hold largemouth bass. Inland Lake, a reservoir on the Locust Fork of the Black Warrior River, is a popular choice. This lake has a reputation for producing quality bass, and it's known for its diverse structure, including submerged timber, rocky points, and grass beds. Spring and fall are the peak seasons, as the bass move shallow to spawn or feed before winter. Throwing crankbaits and spinnerbaits along the edges of vegetation can be productive, as can working a Texas-rigged worm around submerged structure. The public boat ramp on the west side of the lake provides easy access. Be aware that Inland Lake can get crowded, especially on weekends, so plan accordingly. The largemouth in this area tend to be relatively healthy and aggressive, offering a good fight.
