Largemouth Bass

Targeting largemouth bass near Rainbow City? Look no further than the Coosa River and its impoundments, especially Neely Henry Lake. This lake is renowned for its healthy population of largemouth, offering diverse structure like grass beds, docks, and submerged timber. Spring is the prime time, as the bass move shallow to spawn. Focus on the backs of creeks and coves. Summer can be productive early and late in the day, fishing deeper structure with crankbaits and Carolina rigs. In the fall, the bass will follow baitfish into the creeks. A local hotspot is around the many boat docks and piers – skip jigs or worms under them for some hidden bass. Be mindful of the current in the Coosa, especially near the dam, as it can affect lure presentation.
