Largemouth Bass

Camp Verde sits in the heart of the Verde Valley, and the Verde River and its associated waterways offer some interesting largemouth bass fishing. While it's not a trophy bass destination, the river and smaller impoundments hold a healthy population of bass that can provide a fun day on the water. Spring and fall are prime times to target bass as they actively feed. Summer can also be productive, especially early and late in the day. The best access is typically by boat, either kayak or small motorized craft, at the Camp Verde access point. Focus your efforts on areas with structure, such as submerged trees, rock piles, and weed beds. Because the river can fluctuate with rainfall, be sure to check conditions before heading out. Local anglers often have success with crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and plastic worms.
