Largemouth Bass

Kennesaw, Georgia, while primarily suburban, provides some decent largemouth bass fishing within easy reach. The numerous small lakes and ponds scattered throughout the area, often found in parks and residential areas, hold surprisingly good populations of bass. Lake Allatoona, a larger reservoir a short drive north, is a major draw. Spring and fall are peak seasons, with the bass actively feeding in shallower waters. During the summer, focus on deeper structure and early morning or late evening fishing. A key to success in these smaller waters is to downsize your lures and presentations. Light line and finesse techniques, such as wacky-rigged worms or small crankbaits, can be deadly. Access to Lake Allatoona is available through several public boat ramps, but be aware that it can get crowded, especially on weekends. For the smaller ponds, walk-in access is usually available, making them perfect for a quick fishing trip.
