Largemouth Bass

Pulaski, Georgia, offers access to some lesser-known but productive largemouth bass fishing opportunities. The Ogeechee River and its surrounding creeks and ponds hold a surprising number of bass. While not known for giant fish, the area offers a chance to catch numbers, particularly in the spring and fall. Focus your efforts on the Ogeechee River's backwaters and oxbow lakes. These areas provide ideal habitat for bass, with plenty of cover in the form of fallen trees, lily pads, and submerged vegetation. Plastic worms, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits are all effective lures. Be aware that the Ogeechee River is a blackwater river, so water clarity can be limited. Darker-colored lures and those that create vibration often work best. Public access to the river is available at several bridge crossings, but a small boat or kayak will greatly expand your fishing options. Always check water levels before heading out, as the river can be prone to flooding after heavy rains.
