Largemouth Bass

If you're looking for largemouth bass in the LaSalle, Illinois area, you'll want to focus your efforts on the Illinois River and its associated backwaters and sloughs. These areas offer the perfect habitat for bass, with plenty of cover in the form of submerged vegetation, fallen timber, and rocky structure. Spring and fall are generally the best times to target bass here, as they're more active during these periods. During the spring spawn, look for bass in shallow, protected areas. In the fall, they'll often be found staging near deeper water as they prepare for winter.
