The Rock Falls area, with its proximity to the Rock River and several smaller lakes and ponds, offers decent largemouth bass fishing. The Rock River itself provides diverse habitat, from rocky shorelines to weedy backwaters, holding bass of various sizes. Spring and fall are the most productive times, as bass are actively feeding. In the spring, focus on shallow, warmer areas where bass are spawning. In the fall, target areas with baitfish activity. A local tip: the Hennepin Canal, a historic waterway near Rock Falls, can be a surprisingly good spot for bass, especially around bridge pilings and weed beds. Using a variety of lures and techniques is key to success. Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and Texas-rigged plastics all have their place. The Rock River's bass population benefits from consistent stocking efforts, but be mindful of any size or creel limits in place.
