Largemouth Bass

Looking for largemouth bass near West Dundee? The Fox River and its connected lakes and backwaters provide a decent fishery. While the Fox River itself can be challenging due to current and fluctuating water levels, the backwaters, sloughs, and smaller connected lakes hold largemouths. Spring and fall are your best bets, as the fish are most active during these periods. During the spring spawn, target shallow, weedy areas with spinnerbaits, soft plastics, or topwater lures. In the fall, as water temperatures cool, largemouths will often move to deeper water near structure. Crankbaits and jigs can be effective then. Public access to the Fox River is generally good, with numerous boat ramps and shoreline fishing spots available. Be mindful of the current, especially when navigating in a boat, and always check local fishing regulations before heading out.
