If you're looking for Largemouth Bass in the Weymouth, Massachusetts area, you'll want to focus on the numerous smaller ponds and reservoirs scattered throughout the region. While not known for trophy-sized bass, these waters offer consistent action, particularly during the spring and fall. Early spring, right after ice-out, can be phenomenal as bass move shallow to spawn. Focus on areas with submerged vegetation and structure. Fall is another prime time as bass actively feed before winter. Jacob's Pond and Whitman's Pond are both decent options with public access. A local tip: many of these ponds have limited shoreline access, so a kayak or canoe can greatly expand your fishing opportunities. Also, pay attention to water clarity; these ponds can get murky after heavy rains, so choose your lures accordingly – darker colors and lures with rattles can be very effective in stained water. The bass population is healthy, with good numbers of fish in the 1-3 pound range, and the occasional larger bass pushing 5 pounds.
