Lunkers lurking in Plymouth? Absolutely! While the metro area might seem urban, Plymouth, Minnesota, boasts several excellent Largemouth Bass fisheries. Medicine Lake, Parkers Lake, and numerous smaller ponds and lakes offer diverse bass habitat. These waters feature a mix of submerged vegetation, lily pads, docks, and rocky shorelines, creating ideal ambush points for bass. The pre-spawn period in spring (late May-early June) and the fall months are prime times to target these fish. During the summer, focus on fishing early morning or late evening to avoid the heat and boat traffic. Plastics like Texas-rigged worms and creature baits are consistently effective, as are topwater lures around vegetation. A local tip: Medicine Lake's deeper sections can hold larger bass, so using a Carolina rig or deep-diving crankbait can be productive. Be aware of weed growth, which can become thick during the summer months. Public access is generally good, but boat ramps can get crowded on weekends, especially on Medicine Lake.
