Largemouth Bass

Crystal Springs, Mississippi, is a great base for targeting largemouth bass in the numerous lakes and ponds scattered throughout the surrounding area. While there isn't one single 'go-to' spot, exploring smaller, less-pressured waters often yields the best results. Spring is, of course, a prime time as bass move shallow to spawn, but the fall can also be excellent as they feed heavily before winter. Throw spinnerbaits and crankbaits around submerged structure, or flip jigs into heavy cover. Local tip: Many of the smaller ponds are on private land, so always seek permission before fishing. The bass in this region tend to be relatively aggressive, so don't be afraid to experiment with different lures and retrieve speeds. Expect to find a mix of sizes, with the potential for some quality fish in the 4-6 pound range. Pay attention to water clarity and adjust your lure selection accordingly.
