Largemouth Bass

If you're heading to Ecru, Mississippi, for largemouth bass, you're in for some classic Southern fishing. This area is dotted with small lakes, ponds, and creeks that offer excellent bass habitat. Think flooded timber, lily pads, and plenty of shoreline cover. Spring and fall are prime times, with the bass actively feeding in shallower water as the water temperatures are moderate. Summer can be productive too, but you'll want to target early mornings and late evenings, or fish deeper around structure to avoid the midday heat. A local tip: many of the smaller ponds are accessible from the road, but be sure to get permission if you're crossing private land. The bass here tend to be aggressive, so spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and plastic worms are all effective choices. Don't be surprised to find some quality fish mixed in with the smaller ones; Ecru's waters can hold some real surprises.
