Just west of Bozeman, Belgrade offers access to some decent Largemouth Bass fishing, though it's not the region's primary draw. Local ponds and small reservoirs are your best bet, though they require some exploration. The warmer months, from late spring to early fall, are ideal. Look for weed lines, lily pads, and submerged structure. Plastic worms, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits are reliable choices. Since these bodies of water are often smaller and shallower, early morning and late evening are often the most productive times. A practical tip: pay attention to local fishing reports, as conditions can change quickly. Also, be mindful of private property boundaries when accessing these smaller waters. While you likely won't find trophy-sized bass here, it's a great way to enjoy a relaxing day of fishing close to town.
