Targeting largemouth bass in the Waterville, NY area means exploring the numerous smaller lakes, ponds, and reservoirs that dot the landscape of Oneida County. While there isn't one single 'go-to' spot, places like the Oriskany Creek and some of the smaller, unnamed ponds can be surprisingly productive. The best time to fish for largemouth here is during the late spring spawning season (May-June) when they're in shallow water guarding nests, and again in the fall (September-October) as they bulk up for winter. A great local tip is to focus on areas with heavy weed growth or submerged timber, as these provide excellent cover for bass.
