Largemouth bass anglers near Congress, Ohio, have several excellent options. Chippewa Lake, the largest natural inland lake in Ohio, is a solid choice, but for a more intimate experience, consider smaller lakes and ponds in the surrounding area. These smaller bodies of water often receive less fishing pressure and can hold some surprisingly large bass. Spring is undoubtedly the best time to target largemouth, as they move into the shallows to spawn. Look for them around weed beds, docks, and fallen timber. Summer can still be productive, but focus on early mornings and late evenings, or fish deeper structure. A local tip: Try fishing plastic worms or crankbaits along the edges of lily pads in the smaller ponds. Many of these ponds are on private land, so always obtain permission before fishing. The bass in this region tend to be healthy and aggressive, thanks to the fertile waters and ample forage.
