Largemouth Bass
Wheatland, Wyoming offers some surprisingly good largemouth bass fishing, primarily in and around Glendo Reservoir. This reservoir presents diverse structure, from rocky shorelines and submerged timber to weed beds, all ideal for bass. The peak season is late spring through early fall, with the pre-spawn period in May and June offering some of the best opportunities for catching trophy-sized fish. Try working crankbaits and spinnerbaits along the dam face and rocky points. Later in the summer, focus on the weed lines with soft plastics and topwater lures during early morning and evening hours. The Glendo State Park provides several boat ramps and shoreline access points. Be mindful of wind conditions, as Glendo can get quite windy, making boat control challenging. The bass population in Glendo is healthy, with a good mix of sizes, and tournaments are frequently held here, indicating the quality of the fishery. Wyoming fishing regulations apply.
