Spring and fall are your best bets, as the water temperatures are ideal for trout activity. During these times, look for rainbows cruising the shoreline, especially near areas with inlet streams or submerged vegetation. Trolling with small spoons or spinners can be productive, as can fly fishing with nymphs or dry flies during insect hatches. A key to success at Bass Lake is to pay attention to water clarity. If the water is clear, use lighter line and smaller lures. If it's murky, switch to brighter colors and slightly larger presentations.
