Smallmouth Bass

Eagle, Michigan, is a great place to target smallmouth bass in the Grand River. This section of the river features rocky runs, riffles, and deeper pools that provide excellent habitat for smallies. Focus your efforts around bridge pilings, rocky outcroppings, and areas with faster current. Late summer and early fall (August-October) are typically the most productive times. Smallmouth in this area are known for their aggressive strikes and powerful fights. Expect to find fish in the 1-3 pound range, with larger specimens occasionally caught.
