Striped Bass

Jasper, Texas, provides excellent striped bass angling in Sam Rayburn Reservoir, the largest lake wholly within Texas. This reservoir is a striper haven, with fish often exceeding 20 pounds. Focus your efforts during the spring spawn as the fish move into the Angelina and Attoyac Rivers. Trolling crankbaits or casting swimbaits along these river channels can produce explosive strikes. During the warmer months, target deeper water near the dam or submerged structure. Access to Sam Rayburn is excellent, with numerous boat ramps and marinas around the lake. Be prepared for stained water conditions, particularly after heavy rains, and adjust your lure selection accordingly. The striped bass in Sam Rayburn are known for their aggressive feeding habits, making for exciting fishing.
