While Wyoming might not be the first place that comes to mind for striped bass, the Alcova Reservoir near Casper offers a unique opportunity to target these hard-fighting fish. Alcova is a large reservoir on the North Platte River, and while not a traditional striper habitat, they were introduced and have established a population. The best time to target them is during the warmer months, from late spring through early fall, when the water temperatures are more favorable. Focus on areas with submerged structure or near the dam. Trolling large crankbaits or swimbaits is a common technique. Given the relatively small striper population compared to other species in Alcova, persistence and scouting are key.
