Targeting Tarpon near Northport is a long shot, but not entirely impossible, especially during unusually warm summers. While not a consistent fishery, the potential for hooking a 'silver king' this far inland makes it worth mentioning. If you're serious about targeting tarpon here, focus your efforts in the lower reaches of the Black Warrior River as it approaches the delta, particularly around deep holes and areas with significant current. Live mullet or large artificial swimbaits are your best bet.
