Walleye

While Cary, Illinois, isn't necessarily known as a walleye hotspot, dedicated anglers can find opportunities in some of the larger lakes and reservoirs within a reasonable driving distance. In the fall, walleye move shallower to feed, making them accessible with crankbaits or trolling techniques. Be sure to check local regulations regarding size and creel limits for walleye, as they can vary. A key to success is being willing to travel slightly outside of Cary to access better walleye habitat. Look for areas with current breaks and rocky bottoms, as these are prime walleye holding spots.
