While not as renowned as some other walleye hotspots, nearby impoundments like Stockton Lake (a bit of a drive) and smaller reservoirs hold populations of these tasty fish. Spring and fall are the key seasons, with walleye moving into shallower water to spawn or feed. Trolling crankbaits or jigging along rocky points and submerged humps are effective techniques. Local anglers often have success using nightcrawlers on a jig head, especially during low-light conditions.
