Walleye

Walleye fishing near Stoutland, Missouri, requires a bit of a drive but can be rewarding. While Stoutland itself doesn't offer prime walleye habitat, nearby larger reservoirs like Lake of the Ozarks and Truman Lake hold populations of these fish. Spring and fall are the peak seasons for walleye. During the spring spawn, target rocky points and submerged structure in the shallows with jigs and crankbaits. In the fall, walleye move deeper, so trolling crankbaits or using jigging spoons around submerged humps and ledges can be effective. Lake of the Ozarks offers a larger, more diverse walleye population, while Truman Lake can be good for larger, but fewer, fish. Be sure to check specific regulations for each lake, as they can vary. Access is generally good at both lakes, with numerous boat ramps and marinas available.
