White Bass

While Caddo Mills isn't a renowned white bass destination, you can still find some decent action during their spring spawning runs in the creeks and streams that feed the larger lakes nearby. These runs are triggered by rising water temperatures, usually in late February through April. Focus on areas with moving water, such as below dams or near creek mouths. Small jigs, spinners, and crankbaits are effective lures. A local's trick is to look for birds actively feeding on shad, as white bass often follow these baitfish. Keep in mind that the runs can be short-lived and heavily influenced by weather conditions, so it's essential to monitor local fishing reports and water levels for the best timing. Access can be limited, so scout out potential spots beforehand and be respectful of private property.
