While not as widely known as other Texas hotspots, Diboll offers a chance to chase White Bass in the Angelina River and connected creeks, especially during their spring spawning runs. The key is timing: late February through early April, as water temperatures rise, is when they migrate upstream. Focus your efforts around bridge pilings, creek mouths, and any current breaks in the river. Small jigs, spinners, and crankbaits are your go-to lures. A productive strategy is to locate clearer water – if the Angelina is muddy, try exploring smaller tributary creeks that might be running clearer. Public access can be limited, so research boat ramps or wade-fishing spots beforehand. The white bass here aren't typically giants, averaging around a pound, but the action can be fast and furious when you find them schooled up. Be prepared to move around to locate the active fish.
