White Bass

If you're chasing white bass in the Driscoll, Texas area, you'll want to focus your efforts on the Nueces River and its associated lakes and reservoirs. Lake Corpus Christi, in particular, is a local hotspot. The spring spawning run is legendary, usually kicking off in late February or early March and lasting through April. During this time, the whites congregate in the upper reaches of the river and its tributaries, making them relatively easy to target. Small jigs, spinners, and crankbaits are all effective. For bank access, check out the areas around Labonte Park or along the highway crossings over the Nueces. Be aware that water levels can fluctuate significantly depending on rainfall, so check the river conditions before you go. Outside of the spawn, look for whites schooling in the main lake near submerged structure and points. Keep an eye out for bird activity, as they often indicate feeding schools of white bass.
