White Bass

While Garden Ridge, Texas, isn't directly on a major white bass fishery, you're within driving distance of some excellent opportunities. Canyon Lake, though better known for largemouth, also holds a population of white bass that can provide some exciting action, especially during their spring spawning run. Look for them in the Guadalupe River arm of the lake as they move upstream. Spring is the prime time, but you can also find them schooling in the fall. Small crankbaits, spinners, and jigs are effective lures. A local tip is to check the Guadalupe River flow rates before you go. Higher flows can concentrate the fish and make them easier to target. Focus on areas where the river enters the lake, as these are natural gathering points. Remember to check creel limits and regulations with Texas Parks and Wildlife. White bass in Canyon Lake tend to be on the smaller side compared to some other Texas lakes, but they make up for it with their aggressive strikes and schooling behavior, making for some fast-paced fishing.
