Sam Rayburn Reservoir, a massive impoundment on the Angelina River, is the key to unlocking this fishery. White Bass here are heavily influenced by seasonal forage patterns. During the spring spawning run (late February through April), target the upper reaches of the Angelina River and its tributaries where they converge with the reservoir. Look for creek mouths and areas with current. As the water warms, these fish move back into the main lake, schooling near submerged points and humps. One local tip: Pay attention to the shad.
