White Bass

The Colony's proximity to Lake Lewisville makes it a prime location for white bass fishing, especially during their spring spawning run. As the water warms in late winter and early spring, white bass migrate up the lake's tributaries, creating excellent opportunities for anglers. Look for them in the Elm Fork of the Trinity River and near the dam. This is where they congregate to spawn. Bank access is available near the dam and along some bridge crossings. A local tip: use small jigs, crankbaits, or in-line spinners to target these aggressive fish. White bass often school tightly, so when you find one, you'll likely find many more. Keep an eye out for surface activity, as they often chase shad near the surface. Be mindful of the fluctuating water levels in Lake Lewisville, as this can affect the white bass migration patterns. These fish are relatively small, but they fight hard and provide plenty of action!
