White Bass

If you're looking for some fast-paced white bass action, Volente, Texas, on the shores of Lake Travis, is a prime destination. Lake Travis’s clear waters and structure-rich environment create ideal conditions for white bass to thrive. The spring spawning run is legendary, typically kicking off in late February and peaking in March/April. During this time, focus on the Pedernales River arm and other creek inlets as the whites migrate upstream to spawn. Shad-imitation lures like crankbaits, spinners, and small jigs are highly effective. For a successful trip, consider launching from one of the public ramps around Volente Beach. Be mindful of fluctuating water levels, which can impact boat access. Also, keep an eye on your electronics to locate schools of shad, as the white bass won't be far behind. Outside of the spawn, target humps and submerged structures in the main lake with slabs and live bait.
