Blackfin Tuna
Blackfin tuna fishing out of Everglades City puts you within striking distance of some excellent offshore action in the Gulf of Mexico. These tuna school up and can be found around structure, weed lines, and areas with abundant baitfish. Focus your efforts on areas with strong currents, as this often concentrates the tuna. Chumming is highly effective for attracting blackfin tuna to your boat; use a mix of cut bait and fish oil. Live bait, such as pilchards or threadfin herring, is also a great option. Trolling small lures or feathers can also produce results. The warmer months generally offer the best blackfin tuna fishing, but they can be caught year-round. Pay attention to water temperature and clarity, as these factors influence their behavior. The 10,000 Islands area provides some shelter, but be prepared for offshore conditions. Always check the latest fishing regulations and weather forecast before heading out.
