While Berkeley Lake is primarily known for its largemouth bass, some anglers have reported the presence of blue catfish, though they are not as prevalent as other species. If you're specifically targeting blue catfish, focus your efforts in the deeper sections of the lake, particularly during the warmer months. Look for areas near channels or drop-offs. Using larger cut bait, such as shad or herring, is a common tactic. Given the lake's clear water, using heavier line and leaders is advisable, as the fish can be line-shy. Access is mainly through private residences, so it is important to have permission before fishing. Keep in mind that blue catfish are not the primary target in Berkeley Lake, so be prepared for potentially lower catch rates compared to other, more established blue catfish fisheries in Georgia.
