Blue Catfish

Achille, Oklahoma offers access to some excellent Blue Catfish opportunities, primarily in the Red River and Lake Texoma. The Red River, forming the border between Oklahoma and Texas, is renowned for its catfish, and Lake Texoma also holds a healthy population. Spring and summer are the prime times to target blues, especially after heavy rains when the river is up. Cut bait, stink bait, and live shad are all effective baits. For river fishing, look for deep holes, log jams, and outside bends. In Lake Texoma, target submerged channels and humps. Bank fishing is possible along the Red River, but a boat provides access to more productive areas. Be aware of swift currents and potential hazards in the river. The Blue Catfish in this region can grow to impressive sizes, with many exceeding 50 pounds. Be sure to use heavy tackle and strong line to handle these powerful fish.
