If you're after trophy-sized blue catfish, Summerton, South Carolina, offers some fantastic opportunities. The primary draw here is Lake Marion, a massive freshwater reservoir renowned for its healthy population of blues. These fish thrive in Marion's diverse habitat, from its open waters to its flooded timber and creek channels. Targeting them around submerged structure with cut bait is a productive strategy. The best time to chase these giants is during the cooler months, particularly spring and fall, when they are actively feeding. Pre-spawn (late winter/early spring) and post-spawn (late spring/early summer) can be especially productive.
