If you're after blue catfish near Georgetown, Lake Georgetown presents a solid opportunity. While not as renowned as some other Texas catfish hotspots, this lake holds a healthy population of blues that can reach impressive sizes. The best time to target them is during the warmer months, from late spring through early fall. Drift fishing with cut bait or live shad is a productive method, particularly along the main lake channel and around submerged structure. Anglers often find success near the dam and in the deeper sections of the lake. Be prepared for the potential for some larger fish; Lake Georgetown occasionally produces blues in the 30-50 pound range. A practical tip is to use a quality fish finder to locate submerged structure and concentrations of baitfish, as the catfish will likely be nearby.
