Blue Catfish

If you're after blue catfish in the Texas Panhandle, your best bet is Lake Meredith. While not a trophy catfish destination, Meredith holds a decent population of blues that can provide some exciting fishing. The Canadian River, which feeds into Lake Meredith, is also worth exploring. Late spring through early fall is generally the most productive time, as the water warms up and the catfish become more active. Stink baits, cut bait (shad or carp), and live bait (sunfish or goldfish) are all effective. Focus on deeper holes, submerged channels, and areas with structure. A good starting point is fishing near the dam or in the river channel itself. Be aware that Lake Meredith can be subject to strong winds, so check the forecast before you go. Also, access can be limited in some areas due to fluctuating water levels. A boat is almost essential for effectively targeting blue catfish on Meredith. The blue catfish here tend to be opportunistic feeders, so don't be afraid to experiment with different baits and presentations.
